DIY Rattan Furniture Flip

This old tv console has lived a life in my apartment for quit some time now. I had muiltple scratches, wood chips and the shelves on the inside wouldn’t hold up any longer. It was definitely time for an up-cycle!

My decision to remove the glass and install a rattan material in its place added a layer of unique texture. The drawer doors needed a little something else as well so I cut down some wooden dowels to size and installed those with simple wood glue.

The wood was too beat up to salvage so it had to be sanded, primed & painted. I opted for a flat black spray paint. I wanted the rattan material to be the star in this piece so I purchased these matte black handles which blended with the paint and added a much more modern feel.
