Wanting to make your house or apartment feel more like home is as easy as inviting friends and family in, but when that isn’t possible - hanging your best photographs/artwork is the next best thing. A gallery wall is a simple way to surround yourself with the ones you love. With so many online printing services turning your best photos into wall art is just a click away.

Gallery walls are a fun and creative way to add depth to a plain painted wall. Selecting the right photos has never been easier - considering we all have hundreds of digital photos on our phones, and if your not satisfied there, printing tasteful online art is a nifty alternative.

Start by scrolling through your phone to identify favorites. Try not to get bogged down with details and just select the ones that bring a smile. Digital phones make such high resolution photos that pictures can be enlarged to almost any size. If you have a quality home printer that is an option, but keep in mind the limitations on size and cost of ink.

Now comes the frames and adding some style to your home. If you prefer modern, Ikea is a great place for slick cheap frames. If you prefer vintage, well start hitting those weekend flea markets where old frames can start at a few dollars (depending on your negotiating skills). I also like to use vintage images sometimes to add character to the overall design. Obviously the vintage route can take a bit longer, but maybe more fun - depending. Also don’t be shy about mixing Modern and vintage frames in your gallery wall.

Now comes the layout. The gallery wall can grow organically so you don’t have to map out the entire wall on day one. Start with a group of images and consider a basic theme, color vs black and white. Mixing is fun but if you are a traditionalist and want all color or black n white that is definitely a beautiful look.

Finding your print shop has never been easier. With the likes of xxxxxxx and xxxxxx you can easily upload your photos and sit back to wait. I personally like xxxxxx because of the quality of print, but if you have your own service - start there.

As always, if you have questions please email me. Good Luck and send photos of your gallery wall!
