Why is White Color Important In Interior Design?
"white is a color very easily influenced by what is aroud it."
- Frida Famstedt, The Interior Design Handbook.
I also love the history associated with white. Color associations are not necessarily universal as colors can have different meanings, symbolism, and associations in other cultures. In Western cultures, the white is often related with festive events, weddings, angels and conveys a sense of purity, cleanliness, and peacefulness. In many Eastern cultures, however, white is symbolically linked to death and sadness. It's often a color used in funerals and other mourning rituals.
Colors can have a huge impact in our interior. They can both make the space look airy, or visually heavy. What should be your guidelines when choosing colors for your home?
I often use the color white to make rooms seem larger and more spacious. White is bright and can create a sense of space or add highlights. Color psychology is what we designers live for. Psychology of color can influence people’s mood, feelings, and overall outlook on the world.
The psychological effects of white can create a refreshing and clean look in your home. White is used to creating an airy appearance, quiet and pure. If a room is used on walls, furniture, or floor, white may give the impression that it is much higher than it is and can give an invigorating freshness.
White color is pleasant for the eye. A space where white color dominates will look clean and fresh. That’s why, for me, it is the perfect choice, anywhere, anytime.
